Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  4. Remove the mixture from the heat and add in the butter. Stir until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Take a phyllo dough sheet, brush it with melted butter, and place it in the bottom of a baking dish. Repeat this until there are 4-5 layers of phyllo dough.
  6. Pour half of the milk mixture over the dough layers. Repeat the process of layering the phyllo dough and pouring the milk mixture until all the milk mixture has been used.
  7. Sprinkle the top layer with almond slices.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Once it has cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the pastilla and cut into squares to serve.
