Mom’s Cake – Treat

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together hot water, vegetable oil, white vinegar, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add wet mixture to dry mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan and transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
