Mozzarella Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 6 equal squares.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella, tomato sauce, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add a spoonful of the mozzarella mixture onto each dough square, leaving a little bit of space around the edges.
  6. Using a pastry brush, brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg.
  7. Fold the dough over to create a triangle, pressing the edges together firmly to seal the turnovers.
  8. Brush the tops of the turnovers with the olive oil and sprinkle with a little bit of salt.
  9. Place the turnovers on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
