Nabe Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb sliced meat (chicken, beef, or pork)
- 1 block tofu, cut into cubes
- 1/2 head Napa cabbage, sliced
- 4-5 green onions, sliced
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1 leek, sliced
- 2-3 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 1 pack enoki mushrooms
- 1 package udon noodles
- 1 pack konjac yam noodles, optional
- 1/4 cup sake
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 8 cups water or broth
Stage 1 – Prep:
- Prepare all the ingredients by washing, peeling, and slicing them.
- Boil udon noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
Stage 2- Cooking:
- Heat the water or broth in a large pot over medium heat.
- Once it starts to boil, add the sake and soy sauce.
- Add the sliced meat and cook until no longer pink.
- Add the vegetables and tofu, starting with the harder ones first.
- Simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the cooked udon noodles and konjac yam noodles if using. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
Stage 3- Serving:
- Serve the nabe in individual bowls and sprinkle green onions on top.
- You can dip the ingredients in ponzu sauce or add a little bit of sesame oil to enhance the flavor.
- Enjoy the warm and comforting nabe with family or friends.
