Number Cake with Two Chocolates: Gourmet Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, one at a time, and then add the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients slowly into the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Divide the batter into two bowls.
  7. Melt dark chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave. Add the melted chocolate to one bowl of batter and mix well.
  8. Melt white chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave. Add the melted chocolate to the other bowl of batter and mix well.
  9. Spoon the batter alternately into the number cake tin. If you don’t have a number cake tin, you can use a square or rectangle cake tin and cut out your number shapes.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
  11. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until it just begins to steam.
  12. Place the white chocolate chips in a bowl and pour the hot cream over them. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
  13. Repeat the process with the dark chocolate chips and another bowl of hot cream.
  14. Cover the bowls with cling wrap and refrigerate the mixtures for 30-45 minutes, or until firm.
  15. Spread the white chocolate mixture onto the bottom half of the number cake, using a spatula to smooth it out.
  16. Carefully place the top half of the number cake on top of the white chocolate mixture.
  17. Spread the dark chocolate mixture over the top half of the cake, using a spatula to smooth it out.
  18. Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour before serving.
