Pear and Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 ripe pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to butter mixture alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Beat until just combined
- Stir in cocoa powder until well combined. Fold in the pear slices and chocolate chips
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the cake is firm to touch or when toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan for about 20 minutes before removing it from the pan.
