Pear and chocolate strudel

Pear and Chocolate Strudel

Ingredients:

  • 4 pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 10 phyllo pastry sheets
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced pears, sugar, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the pears.
  3. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
  4. Brush a baking tray with melted butter and lay the phyllo pastry sheets on top, brushing each layer with melted butter as you go.
  5. Spread the melted chocolate over the phyllo pastry sheets, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  6. Lay the pears on top of the chocolate, arranging them evenly in a single layer.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts over the pears, and drizzle with honey.
  8. Carefully roll the pastry, making sure not to tear it, and tuck the ends under.
  9. Brush with melted butter, and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  10. Let the strudel cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Verdict:

This Pear and Chocolate Strudel is an indulgent dessert with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness from the pears and chocolate. The crunch of the hazelnuts and the flakiness of the phyllo pastry make this an irresistible dessert.
