Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized pears, peeled and sliced
  • 75g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8-inch gratin dish.
  2. Sprinkle pear slices evenly on the bottom of the gratin dish and sprinkle with the chopped chocolate.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites and salt until stiff peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until glossy.
  4. Stir vanilla extract into meringue mixture.
  5. Spoon meringue mixture evenly over the pears and chocolate in the gratin dish.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until meringue is golden brown.
