Pears in Syrup and Cardamom
Ingredients:
- 4 firm pears
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 cardamom pods, crushed
Instructions:
- Peel the pears and cut them in half, removing the core.
- In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar and cardamom pods. Bring to a boil, stirring gently until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the pear halves to the syrup and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the pears are tender, turning them occasionally.
Verdict:
This is a sweet and fragrant dessert that is both easy to make and delicious to eat. The cardamom adds a lovely flavor to the pears and the syrup is perfect for drizzling over ice cream or yogurt.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the pears warm with a dollop of whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or with a sprinkle of chopped nuts. You can also serve them cold with a spoonful of Greek yogurt and a drizzle of syrup.
