Profiteroles cannelés Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, diced into small pieces
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the water, butter, and salt to a simmer. Add the flour and stir vigorously until the dough starts to form a ball and pulls away from the pan. Remove from heat and let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
- Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and gradually add them to the dough, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. The mixture should be smooth and shiny.
- Pipe or spoon the dough onto the prepared baking sheet into small mounds, leaving at least 2 inches of space between each one.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the profiteroles are golden brown and puffy. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. Add powdered sugar and cinnamon, and mix until well combined.
- To assemble the profiteroles, cut a small hole in the bottom of each one and pipe in the whipped cream. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
