Rainbow Bagels Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 cups warm water
  • Food coloring (red, blue, yellow and green)
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Create a well in the center of the bowl and mix in the warm water until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes or until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and set aside.
  5. Dye each portion of dough with food coloring until desired color is achieved: red, blue, yellow and green.
  6. Roll out each dough portion into a 12-inch long rope, then twist and wrap each color together to form a rainbow shape.
  7. Place the shaped dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let rest for 20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 425F.
  9. Brush the rainbow-shaped dough with lightly beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool the rainbow bagels for 5 minutes.
  11. Serve the rainbow bagels with cream cheese or any desired topping.
