Roasted Figs in Kadaif Dress Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Kadaif (shredded phyllo dough)
- 8-10 fresh figs
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Take the Kadaif and cut it into small pieces; then toast it until it’s light brown in color and let it cool.
- Cut off the stems from each fig, and then cut an “x” just enough to make a cavity in the fig to stuff it with the Kadaif mixture.
- Mix the honey, butter, cinnamon, and cardamom together in a small bowl until everything is combined.
- Add the cooled Kadaif to the spice bowl and mix to coat the Kadaif nicely.
- Stuff this Kadaif mixture into the figs, gently pressing it into the cavity.
- Place the figs onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake them in the oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the Kadaif is golden brown and crisp, and figs have softened with sticky honey juices oozing out.
- Take out the figs from the oven and sprinkle with chopped pistachios.
- Serve hot or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
