Scallops au gratin with herbs Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh sea scallops (remove the muscle from each one)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions:
- Preheat your broiler to high.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add the flour to the skillet and cook for another minute, stirring constantly.
- Slowly whisk the milk into the skillet, making sure there are no lumps. Cook the mixture until it starts to thicken, stirring frequently.
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese, dried basil, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together until the cheese is melted and the mixture is well combined.
- Add the scallops to the skillet and toss to coat them in the sauce.
- Transfer the scallops and sauce to a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the panko breadcrumbs over the top of the scallops.
- Broil the dish for 3-5 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the scallops are cooked through. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn!
