Scones Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Add the cold butter pieces into the flour mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into small pieces until it is incorporated into the mixture and the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a circle that is about 1 inch thick.
  7. Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut the dough into circles and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake the scones for 15-20 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown on the edges.
  9. Remove the scones from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
