Apple Scones Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Fold in the chopped apple pieces.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and beaten egg then pour into the flour mixture.
  5. Mix the ingredients until well combined, then transfer the dough onto a floured surface.
  6. Knead the dough gently until it just comes together.
  7. Pat or roll the dough into a disk, then cut into six or eight wedges (depending on the size of scones you prefer).
  8. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet, brush with a little milk or cream, and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes before serving.
