Sernik: Polish Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 2 lbs of cream cheese
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch

- 1/2 cup of sour cream
Instructions:
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1 egg, 2 egg yolks, and 1/2 tsp baking powder. Mix until a dough is formed.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it’s about 1/4-inch thick. Use the dough to line the bottom and sides of a 10-inch springform pan.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat 2 lbs of cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup cornstarch until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup sour cream, and continue mixing until all ingredients are combined.
- Pour the cream cheese filling into the prepared crust.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and the cheesecake is set in the center.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool for at least an hour before serving.
