Shortbread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F/160°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Add the flour and salt to the bowl and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Shape the dough into a flat disk and wrap it in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll the dough out on a floured surface until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough into desired shapes with cookie cutters or a knife and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  8. Cool the shortbread on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
