Slightly Spicy Tiramisu
Ingredients:
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1 ½ cups brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 3 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1/4 cup cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Instructions:
- Dip the ladyfingers into the cooled espresso, and arrange them in a single layer in a 9×13 inch glass baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale. Add the milk and cayenne pepper, and stir until well combined.
- Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla, and continue to mix until smooth.
- Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and smooth it out with a spatula. Repeat the layers of ladyfingers and mascarpone, ending with a layer of the cheese mixture.
- Dust the top with cocoa powder and cayenne pepper.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serving suggestions:
Serve chilled with a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top. This tiramisu is best enjoyed as a dessert after a spicy and flavorful meal.
