Slightly Spicy Tiramisu

Ingredients:

  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 1 ½ cups brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Dip the ladyfingers into the cooled espresso, and arrange them in a single layer in a 9×13 inch glass baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale. Add the milk and cayenne pepper, and stir until well combined.
  3. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla, and continue to mix until smooth.
  4. Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and smooth it out with a spatula. Repeat the layers of ladyfingers and mascarpone, ending with a layer of the cheese mixture.
  5. Dust the top with cocoa powder and cayenne pepper.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Serving suggestions:

Serve chilled with a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top. This tiramisu is best enjoyed as a dessert after a spicy and flavorful meal.
