Strawberry and Whole Sugar Tartlets Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 sheet ready-made pie crust
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup whole cane sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the pie crust and cut it into 4 equal pieces.
- Place each piece of pie crust onto the prepared baking sheet.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, whole cane sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have released their juices and the sugar has dissolved.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir until well combined.
- Continue to cook the strawberry mixture for an additional 2-3 minutes, until it has thickened. Remove from heat.
- Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly among the 4 pie crusts on the baking sheet.
- Bake the tartlets for 15-20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serve these delicious strawberry and whole sugar tartlets warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top. They also make for a great addition to a dessert platter or can be enjoyed as a sweet afternoon snack.
