Strawberry and Whole Sugar Tartlets Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet ready-made pie crust
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup whole cane sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the pie crust and cut it into 4 equal pieces.
  3. Place each piece of pie crust onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, whole cane sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have released their juices and the sugar has dissolved.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir until well combined.
  6. Continue to cook the strawberry mixture for an additional 2-3 minutes, until it has thickened. Remove from heat.
  7. Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly among the 4 pie crusts on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake the tartlets for 15-20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
