Strawberry Granita – Treat

Strawberry Granita Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries until smooth.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Add the strawberry puree and lemon juice to the saucepan, and stir to combine.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  5. Once cooled, pour the mixture into a shallow, non-reactive dish.
  6. Place the dish in the freezer and freeze for 1 hour.
  7. After 1 hour, use a fork to scrape the mixture, breaking up any ice crystals that have formed. Repeat this process every 30 minutes for about 3 hours, or until the granita is completely frozen and has a fluffy, shaved ice-like texture.
  8. To serve, spoon the granita into small cups or bowls. Garnish with mint leaves, if desired.
