Tartlets with Sugar and Candied Lemons
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 lemons, sliced into thin rounds
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 12 circles using a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter. Press each circle into the cups of a muffin tin and prick the bottoms with a fork.
- Bake the tartlet shells for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved, then add the slices of lemon.
- Simmer the lemon slices in the sugar syrup for 15 minutes or until they become translucent. Remove the lemon slices from the syrup and drain them on a wire rack.
- Place one or two candied lemon slices into each tartlet shell.
- Sift powdered sugar over the top of each tartlet and serve.
