Tuna Macaroni Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cans of drained tuna
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups of milk
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions and drain.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  4. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  5. Add milk gradually, whisking constantly for 5 minutes until thickened and smooth.
  6. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper to the sauce and stir until well combined.
  7. Add drained tuna and shredded cheese to the sauce and mix well
  8. Add cooked macaroni to the saucepan and stir until well coated with the sauce.
  9. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  10. Pour the macaroni mixture into the baking dish.
  11. Sprinkle breadcrumbs lightly over the mixture.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  13. Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool down for 5 minutes before serving.
