Vanilla Chocolate Marble Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and hot water until smooth.
  6. Remove 1/4 cup of the cake batter and stir it into the cocoa mixture.
  7. Pour half of the plain batter into the prepared cake pan. Spoon half of the chocolate mixture on top. Swirl the batters together with a knife. Repeat with the remaining batters and chocolate mixture.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
