Baba Pastry Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Syrup:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Whipped cream and fresh berries for serving
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Meanwhile, make the syrup: In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, orange juice, cinnamon stick, and lemon slices. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until slightly thickened.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon slices from the syrup.
- While the pastries are still warm, poke several holes in the top of each one with a fork.
- Slowly drizzle the syrup over the top of each pastry, allowing it to soak in.
- Let the pastries cool in the tin for about 10-15 minutes before removing them.
- Once cool, serve with whipped cream and fresh berries.

These Baba pastries are absolutely delicious – fluffy and moist, with a hint of orange and cinnamon in every bite. The syrup adds an extra layer of flavor and sweetness, making them the perfect treat for any occasion.
