Ingredients:

  • 1 chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 cup canned cherry pie filling
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup Kirsch or other cherry-flavored liqueur
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until just blended, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Divide the batter equally between the prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean, about 25 minutes.

  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight, and serve.
