Cherry Puff Pastry Swirl Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup cherry preserves
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface into a 12-inch square.
- Spread the cherry preserves evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the cherry preserves.
- Starting from one end, tightly roll up the puff pastry into a log shape.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 1-inch slices.
- Place the slices onto the prepared baking sheet, cut side up, leaving about 2 inches of space between each slice.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to make an egg wash.
- Brush the egg wash over each slice.
- In another small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the egg-washed slices.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and puffy.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
