Chestnuts Cream Tiramisu
Ingredients:
- 1 cup roasted chestnuts, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1/4 cup brandy
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Continue whipping until everything is well combined and the mixture is thick and smooth. Fold in the chopped chestnuts.
- In a small bowl, mix together the coffee and brandy.
- Arrange the ladyfingers in a single layer on the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish. Lightly brush the ladyfingers with the coffee and brandy mixture using a pastry brush. Spread a layer of the chestnuts cream over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of the chestnuts cream on top.
- Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.
Verdict:
This chestnuts cream tiramisu is a nutty and rich twist on the classic Italian dessert. The combination of chestnuts and heavy cream creates a smooth and flavorful filling, while the coffee- and brandy-soaked ladyfingers add a much-needed hint of bitterness. Serve it chilled for the best results.
