Chocolate and orange log

Chocolate and Orange Log

Ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 110g caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 1 orange zest

Method

  1. Grease a baking tray and preheat the oven at 180°C.
  2. Melt chocolate with butter in a bowl above a pan of simmering water.
  3. Whisk in the caster sugar and beat the eggs one by one and continue to whisk until the mixture appears fluffy and thick.
  4. Stir in the self-raising flour and orange zest until everything is well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the baking tray and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
  6. Once the cake has finished cooking, turn it out onto a piece of baking parchment. Roll from the narrow end into a log while it’s still hot, but not too firm, using the parchment to help you fold it inwards.
  7. Allow it to cool and serve in slices, adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar and orange zest to serve.

Verdict:

This chocolate and orange log is a heavenly treat for chocoholics. The combination of dark chocolate with fresh orange zest adds a subtle hint of citrus that balances the sweetness of the chocolate. It’s a delicious dessert that leaves a lasting impression and is perfect for any celebratory occasion.
