Chocolate Tiramisu Recipe – Treat

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed espresso or coffee
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 6 oz semisweet chocolate, grated or shaved
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting on top

Directions:

  1. Combine egg yolks and sugar in a heatproof bowl. Place bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and whisk constantly until egg mixture thickens (about 10 minutes).
  2. Add milk to yolk mixture and continue to whisk until well combined. Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool.
  3. In another bowl, beat heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Fold this mixture into cooled egg mixture and set aside.
  4. Whisk together espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger briefly in the mixture and arrange in a single layer at the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish.
  5. Spoon half of the egg mixture over the ladyfingers, then sprinkle half of the grated chocolate on top. Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers, egg mixture, and grated chocolate.
  6. Cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  7. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
