Crispy Goat Cheese and Spices

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz goat cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Cut goat cheese into 1/2 inch slices and set aside.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt and black pepper.
  3. In another shallow dish, beat the egg.
  4. In a third shallow dish, add Panko bread crumbs.
  5. Coat each goat cheese slice in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten egg and finally coat in the Panko bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Place the coated goat cheese slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  8. Add the coated goat cheese slices to the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  9. Remove the goat cheese slices to a paper-towel lined plate to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve immediately while still warm.
