Crispy Goat Cheese and Spices
Ingredients:
- 4 oz goat cheese
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- Cut goat cheese into 1/2 inch slices and set aside.
- In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt and black pepper.
- In another shallow dish, beat the egg.
- In a third shallow dish, add Panko bread crumbs.
- Coat each goat cheese slice in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten egg and finally coat in the Panko bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Place the coated goat cheese slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add the coated goat cheese slices to the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Remove the goat cheese slices to a paper-towel lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve immediately while still warm.
