Financier: Easy Cake Recipe

A financier is a small, light French cake that is similar to a sponge cake, but made with nut flour instead of wheat flour. It’s a perfect dessert for those who want something quick and easy to make. Try this simple six-step recipe to make your own delicious financiers.

Ingredients:

  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 50g of ground almond powder
  • 100g icing sugar
  • 40g plain flour
  • 4 egg whites
  • A pinch of salt
  • Butter for greasing

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease your financier moulds with butter.
  2. Melt the butter in a small pan over low heat, until it turns golden brown. Leave it to cool.
  3. Sift the almond powder and icing sugar into a bowl.
  4. Add in the flour and whisk the egg whites until they become fluffy, then add a pinch of salt.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the egg whites, then add in the melted butter while stirring gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the moulds and bake the financiers for 12-15 minutes in the preheated oven or until golden brown.
