Grapefruit Semolina Sticks Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 large grapefruit
- 1 cup of semolina
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
Instructions:
- Cut the grapefruit into halves and remove the pulp using a spoon, set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, bring water, sugar, salt, and vanilla to a boil and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
- Slowly add semolina and stir continuously for 5-7 minutes until the mixture starts to come together and form a dough-like consistency.
- Add the butter and the grapefruit pulp, stirring continuously for another 2-3 minutes until all ingredients are well combined.
- Pour the mixture into an 8×8 inch square baking dish, pressing down firmly using a spatula until it’s flat and even. Let it rest for 30 minutes to allow to cool and settle.
- Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C and grease a baking sheet.
- Carefully remove the semolina mixture from the baking dish and cut it into 1-inch thick sticks.
- Place the sticks onto the greased sheet leaving 1-inch space between each stick and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool down before serving.
