Ingredients:

  • 1 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup grated orange zest
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the poppy seeds, milk, honey, raisins, and vanilla extract. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating after each addition.
  6. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until well combined.
  7. Add the orange juice and orange zest to the poppy seed mixture and mix well.

  13. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
