No-bake zuccotto

No-Bake Zuccotto Recipe

If you’re looking for a no-bake dessert that’s both impressive and delicious, look no further than the zuccotto. This classic Italian dessert features layers of sponge cake, whipped cream, and a variety of fillings, all of which are packed into a dome-shaped mold and chilled until firm. The end result is a sweet and creamy treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large sponge cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup chopped candied fruit
  • Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting

Directions:

  1. Cut the sponge cake into thin slices and use them to line the inside of a dome-shaped bowl or mold. Be sure to leave enough overhang to fold over the top of the mold once it’s filled.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Fold in the orange liqueur, sliced almonds, chopped dark chocolate, and candied fruit.
  3. Spoon the whipped cream mixture into the mold, making sure to press down on the mixture to eliminate any air pockets. Fold the overhanging sponge cake over the filling to seal it inside the mold.
  4. Refrigerate the zuccotto for at least 4 hours, or until the filling is firm and set.
  5. To serve, invert the zuccotto onto a serving platter and dust with confectioners’ sugar. Slice into wedges and serve chilled.

Verdict:

This no-bake zuccotto recipe is a winner! The combination of whipped cream, fruit, and nuts is absolutely delicious, and the presentation is impressive enough to make it a perfect dessert for any special occasion. I love that it’s so easy to make, too – no oven required!

Serving Suggestions:

This dessert is delicious on its own, but you could also serve it with some fresh berries or a fruit compote on the side for some extra color and flavor.
