Orange Praline Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chopped pralines
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- zest of 1 orange
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- whipped cream and extra chopped pralines, for serving
Directions
- In a large saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, chopped pralines, light brown sugar, orange zest, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking occasionally until the pralines and sugar has dissolved.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add in the chopped chocolate. Whisk until the chocolate has melted and incorporated into the milk mixture.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
- Transfer the hot chocolate to serving mugs and serve with whipped cream and extra chopped pralines on top.
Serving Suggestions
For an extra indulgent treat, you can add a splash of your favorite liqueur such as hazelnut or orange liqueur to the hot chocolate. Serve with buttery shortbread or chocolate-dipped biscotti on the side.
