Orange Praline Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pralines
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • whipped cream and extra chopped pralines, for serving

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, chopped pralines, light brown sugar, orange zest, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking occasionally until the pralines and sugar has dissolved.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add in the chopped chocolate. Whisk until the chocolate has melted and incorporated into the milk mixture.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
  4. Transfer the hot chocolate to serving mugs and serve with whipped cream and extra chopped pralines on top.

Serving Suggestions

For an extra indulgent treat, you can add a splash of your favorite liqueur such as hazelnut or orange liqueur to the hot chocolate. Serve with buttery shortbread or chocolate-dipped biscotti on the side.
