Orange Tart Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
  • 2 tbsp ice water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the chilled butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water and mix until the dough comes together. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
  4. Roll the dough to fit a 9-inch (23 cm) tart pan. Transfer the dough to the pan and trim the edges. Prick the bottom of the dough with a fork and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, orange juice, orange zest, and sugar. Pour the mixture into the chilled crust.
  6. Bake the tart for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. Let the tart cool before serving.
