Pear ice cream

Pear Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Add the pears and heavy cream to a blender and blend until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Heat the milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has fully dissolved.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks together.
  4. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the bowl of whisked egg yolks, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from cooking.
  5. Pour the egg and milk mixture back into the saucepan and turn the heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture has thickened and can coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any lumps.
  7. Stir in the pear mixture, vanilla extract, and salt. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  8. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually for about 25-30 minutes.
  9. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 3 hours before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve with a slice of fresh pear on top or with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
