Pistachio cabbage flower – Delicious

Pistachio Cabbage Flower Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 1 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Cut off the cabbage stem so it sits flat. Peel 12-15 outer leaves and set aside.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the cabbage head and cook for 10 minutes or until the leaves are soft and pliable.
  3. Remove the cabbage head from the pot and place it in a colander to drain and cool. Reserve 1 cup of the cooking water.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the chopped pistachios, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of the reserved cooking water to the mixture and stir to combine. The mixture should be moist but not too wet.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  7. Take one cabbage leaf at a time, place a spoonful of the pistachio mixture in the center and shape it into a ball.
  8. Place the ball in the center of another cabbage leaf. Fold the edges of the leaf over the ball and wrap tightly to form a flower-shaped package. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
  9. Arrange the cabbage flowers in a baking dish. Pour the remaining cooking water over the top and cover with foil.
  10. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is golden brown.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy the deliciousness of this Pistachio Cabbage Flower!
