Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1 (1/4 oz) packet of active dry yeast

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugar in warm water, then add yeast and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper.
  3. Add yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until the dough comes together.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Using a donut cutter, cut out donut shapes from the dough.
  8. Heat oil in a deep frying pan until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
