Puff Pastry Rolls with Walnuts and Apple Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium sized apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg, separated

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped apples, walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Dust your work surface with flour and roll out puff pastry into a 12 x 10-inch (30 x 25-cm) rectangle.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into four equal rectangles.
  5. Brush the edges of the rectangles with the egg white.
  6. Spoon the apple and walnut mixture on the center of each rectangle.
  7. Brush the egg yolk on the edges of the rectangle and then roll the rectangles up to enclose the filling and form a roll.
  8. Brush the top of each roll with the remaining egg yolk.
  9. Use a knife to make small slits on top of each roll.
  10. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  12. Let the rolls cool for 5 minutes before serving.
