Puff Pastry Rolls with Walnuts and Apple Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium sized apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 egg, separated
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, mix the chopped apples, walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Dust your work surface with flour and roll out puff pastry into a 12 x 10-inch (30 x 25-cm) rectangle.
- Cut the puff pastry into four equal rectangles.
- Brush the edges of the rectangles with the egg white.
- Spoon the apple and walnut mixture on the center of each rectangle.
- Brush the egg yolk on the edges of the rectangle and then roll the rectangles up to enclose the filling and form a roll.
- Brush the top of each roll with the remaining egg yolk.
- Use a knife to make small slits on top of each roll.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool for 5 minutes before serving.
