Rustic Plum Tart – Régal
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 3-4 tablespoons ice water
- 8-10 ripe plums, halved and pitted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, for sprinkling on top
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt together. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide dough in half, and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll one half of dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Arrange plums on top of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border around the edge. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the plums, then drizzle with melted butter.
- Roll out the second half of dough into a 12-inch circle. Carefully place it over the plums and trim the edges to fit. Pinch the edges of the crusts together to seal. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Serving suggestion:
