Strawberry Mousse Cigars Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 phyllo dough sheets
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor.
  2. Combine the pureed strawberries and granulated sugar in a medium saucepan, and cook over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes syrupy, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool.
  5. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Add the cooled strawberry mixture to the whipped cream and fold gently to combine.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Unfold the phyllo dough sheets and lay them out on a flat surface. Cut them into 3-inch wide strips. Brush each strip with melted butter.
  9. Place a spoonful of the strawberry mousse mixture at the bottom of each strip and roll it up tightly to form a cigar shape. Repeat with the remaining strips.
  10. Place the cigar-shaped pastries on the prepared baking sheet and brush them with melted butter. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Let the pastries cool slightly before dusting with confectioners’ sugar and serving immediately.
