Vanilla-Caramel Millefeuille Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (thawed)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Powdered sugar (to dust on top for decoration)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets onto the lined baking sheet, and bake them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- While the pastry bakes, prepare the caramel sauce. In a medium saucepan, heat the granulated sugar on medium-high heat until it melts and turns a deep amber color. Add the unsalted butter, heavy cream, sea salt, and vanilla extract to the saucepan, and whisk together gently until everything is combined and the mixture is smooth. Turn off the heat and let the caramel sauce cool down.
- Once the caramel sauce has cooled, stir it until it is quite thick and spreadable.
- When the puff pastry sheets are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool down to room temperature.
- Using a sharp knife, cut each puff pastry sheet into 3 equal pieces lengthwise, so you have 6 equal rectangular pieces in total.
- Place one piece of the puff pastry onto a plate, and spread a thick layer of the caramel sauce over it. Cover it with another piece of puff pastry, and spread another layer of caramel sauce on it. Repeat this layering process until you have used up all the puff pastry and caramel sauce, ending with a layer of caramel sauce on top.
- Refrigerate the millefeuille for at least an hour to allow the caramel sauce to set and hold the layers together.
- When ready to serve, dust the top of the millefeuille with powdered sugar, and cut it into equal slices.
- Serve and enjoy!
Verdict:
This Vanilla-Caramel Millefeuille is a deliciously decadent dessert that is sure to impress your guests. The sweet, buttery layers of puff pastry are perfectly complemented by the rich, velvety caramel sauce. The only downside is that it takes a little bit of time to prepare, but the end result is well worth it!
