Brioche and Chocolate-Banana Filled Waffles
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk and eggs. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
- Add the melted butter and stir until the batter comes together. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the batter rise for 1 hour at room temperature, or overnight in the fridge.
- About 10 minutes before cooking, mash the ripe banana and fold in the chocolate chips.
- Preheat your waffle iron. Spoon enough batter into the waffle iron to cover the hot plate, but not so much that it overflows. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Cut the waffle in half horizontally and spread the chocolate-banana mixture on the bottom half. Top with the remaining waffle half.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or powdered sugar, if desired.
Verdict:
These brioche and chocolate-banana filled waffles are the perfect indulgent breakfast treat. The brioche waffle batter yields a rich and buttery waffle that is the perfect vessel for the ooey-gooey chocolate and sweet banana filling. Serve with whipped cream or powdered sugar on top for an extra special touch.
