Chocolate Christmas Cookies

Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until smooth and creamy.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in parts, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the balls at least 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to firm up.
- Remove the tray from the oven and let the cookies cool on the pan for 3-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
