Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a pan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and let it cook until it turns amber in color.
  4. Pour the caramelized sugar into a 9-inch cake pan and spread it evenly across the bottom. Set the pan aside.
  5. In a blender, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until you get a smooth mixture.
  6. Pour the mixture over the caramelized sugar in the cake pan.
  7. Fill a larger, baking dish with enough hot water to reach about halfway up the side of the cake pan.
  8. Cover the cake pan with aluminum foil and place both pans in the oven.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set.
  10. Remove the cake pan from the larger pan and let it cool to room temperature.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  12. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the flan. Invert the pan onto a plate and carefully lift it up to release the flan with caramel sauce on top.

Serving Suggestions:
