Fonio steamed with morels Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Fonio grains
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Dried morels
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup White wine

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, add Fonio grains and 2 cups of water.
  2. Cover and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let it rest for another 5 minutes.
  5. Take a large skillet and melt butter over medium heat.
  6. Add onion and garlic, saute until softened.
  7. Add soaked dried morels, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Saute for 3-4 minutes more.
  9. Pour wine over mixture and bring it to boil.
  10. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Add the cooked Fonio grains and mix well with the morels.
  12. Cover the skillet with a lid and steam for 10 minutes.
  13. Remove from heat and serve hot.
