Fruit tart

Fruit Tart Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Assorted fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup of apricot preserves

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Press the pie crust into a 9-inch tart pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  3. In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the milk, heavy cream, and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla together.
  5. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  6. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and heat over medium heat until it thickens, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  7. Pour the custard into the cooled tart shell and smooth it with a spatula.
  8. Arrange the fresh fruit on top of the custard in any pattern you desire.
  9. In a small bowl, microwave the apricot preserves until melted. Brush the melted preserves on top of the fruit to create a glossy finish.
  10. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
