Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of cooked wheat
  • 1 pound of ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of grated lemon peel
  • 3 eggs and 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water
  • 1/4 cup of candied citron, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of candied orange peel, finely chopped
  • 1/4 stick of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 pie crust

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cooked wheat, ricotta cheese, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon peel together.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and egg yolks together with the orange blossom water.
  4. Add the egg mixture to the wheat mixture and mix well.
  5. Add the candied citron, orange peel, and melted butter to the mixture. Mix well.
  6. Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and trim the edges.
  7. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and level the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 1 hour or until the top of the pie is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool to room temperature before serving.
