Pizza Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water (110-115°F)
  • 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, stir together warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes, or until the mixture becomes foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and 2 1/2 cups of flour to the bowl. Knead the mixture with your hands until a smooth and elastic dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour as needed.
  3. Place the dough in a clean, oiled bowl. Cover it and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  5. Sprinkle cornmeal onto a clean surface and roll out the dough into your desired shape and thickness.
  6. Transfer the dough onto a lightly greased pizza pan or onto parchment paper.
  7. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about 1/2 inch of space on the edges.
  8. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and add any additional toppings if desired.
  9. Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Cut the pizza into slices and serve hot.
